Friends in strange places

November 2nd, 2008

This weekend I was up on the Badger mt bluff when I ran into a very nice lady from Seattle who knew the store. Wouldn’t have guesses that. She said she was pleased with the selection and would shop there again. Wow. Go ahead and make my day. Mom ran the store this weekend so I could take a day off. Snaps for mom!

I hope all are enjoying their weekend as well as I am.

Hi again all,

October 25th, 2008

We are looking at a couple of gem show this fall. Because of the economy we are not sure we will go. We will have to see.

Other than that all is well in the shop. Mom is taking a class and will be late in on Tuesdays for the next couple of months. Well see you at the shop.

I’m back

October 12th, 2008

Bet you thought I fell off the edge of the earth. Well I’m back. The new job is taxing and has kept me from getting back to you all. I hope all is well in your lives. Christmas is coming soon and I hope all of you have beady plans. Mom and I have a few plans in that area ourselves. We plan to go to the barter faire up north. and a gem show or 2 plus the senior center in November. We will close for all three of these. The faire is on the 17th of October and the others are in November. I thought the experience of the faire would be an eye opener for mom. :)

Gem show?

July 9th, 2008

I was wondering if there is any interest in a Gem show at the store? Possibly in the fall? If there is any interest in this idea I would love to here it. Most of the items for the show would be brought in for the show and gone after.

Down at the store the beat goes on. There is a lot of interest in hemp right now. In the 60’s we called it macramé today they call it hemping.  I like to encourage hemping with the idea it gives the kids, teans and adults something to do. This is one thing guys like and we see quite a few guys in picking up big hole beads.

Basic hemping is very easy and can be learned in an afternoon. I can show anyone the basic steps on a Saturday down at the store.  Getting started early, around noon, is a good idea. Remember, this is not just for kids. I saw a great rug in an old magazine the other day along with some groovy plant hangers.

New Job

June 20th, 2008

Well I started the new job and we have made it through the first week. Mom will be taking over some of my responsibilities in the next few weeks and some things will just be behind for a while. I am still doing my searches for the items you want but it will take a little longer.

The new spring items are all out and mom has found space for about 1/2 of them. We still need to sell more of the older stock so on Saturdays only, until the sale ends, when you are in the store, IF YOU ASK, I will give you an additional 10% off the final cost of the strands that are on sale. Gotta love all the if,and, and buts in life!

I, the Doc, may have to travel with in the next month. This will probably put me further behind than I am already. So patience is a virtue.

We will be making an order for craft wire in the next few weeks. If you want to save money, over 30%, than come in and ask about getting your order in. Also we will be ordering hair-pipe or hair-bone beads and you can get in on that order also.

Well, I hope you are having a great day.

News

June 13th, 2008

Well here we are again. I hope you are having a great day.

I, the Doc, have excepted a different position at work. There will be more responsibility and at first I will have to give more time. Because of this I will not be taking any repairs until I get the hang of the new job and get caught up at the shop. I will still  be working on Saturdays with anybody that needs a little help.

On the brighter side… Mom just put out the last of the pewter and some large faceted drops. The pewter is priced great and the drops are real pretty. There are some unique stones.

We also received some some coral branches in red and a nice burnt orange the other day. These should be the next items mom will be putting out.

Today

June 9th, 2008

I left a message on the new stuff at the store. I just wanted to leave a note so you wouldn’t miss me. Mom and I moved a few things around this weekend. Nothing special, just a new spinner with the Organics on it. Wow I didn’t realize how many pearls there are in the store. We are working on 3 more new spinners for the entrance area. The finial touches will not be on for a while. We thought just getting the spinners in place was the most important thing. I hope you are having a great time this spring and getting ready for the summer. Please be safe. School is out soon and kids will be out in droves.

Displays

May 28th, 2008

Well mom says we can build the first set of displays by our selves so here we go. In the entrance to the store you will see the bases to 4 new displays. Next Sunday we will build tops. So we should be able to display our new items soon. The new pewter will be in this week and out by next week. We just received cell phone straps to attach dangly things to cell phones. 4 for $1.

New Displays

May 19th, 2008

I believe we have found a carpenter to make the new displays. This means the new items could all be out for display soon. When that happens the sale may end. So if you have been holding out now may be the time to get your sales items.

The farmers market has opened for the season and we have been buying asparagus and I also saw spinach, onions and a few other veggies.

Mary of Sonata Designs was there as was our turbo child McCallister. So come on down, jump on in cause the veggies are fine.

Bead News

May 15th, 2008

This is a new blog. I thought putting things in a blog would be more efficient. Mom is working so hard to get tags on the new items so she can get them out. There is still not enough room to hang it all. So the sale goes on.

Remember…30% off, items from last year of later, temporarily strung.
